Who doesn’t love the Grinch! I watch the Jim Carrey version every year. It never gets old. Invite the Grinch to the party this year with this Grinch Punch. It’s fun for the kids and can be boozed up for the adults, if you want.

This year, we found some little candy hearts to put onto the punch, which everyone loved. You can also rim the glasses with red rimming sugar. Just have fun and be creative.

Ingredients You Need

Ingredients for holiday Grinch punch

To make Grinch Punch, you will need the following ingredients:

  • Green Berry Rush Hawaiian fruit punch – You can use any kind of green punch but this is the perfect shade of green and the kids like the flavor.
  • Sprite – You can use 7-up or Squirt if you like.
  • Pineapple sherbet – You can use any kind of sherbet, sorbet, or ice cream. Just keep the color scheme of green or white so keep your punch green.
  • Garnish – Honey and red sugar sprinkles for rimming the glass. Red heart sprinkles or maraschino cherries to top the drink.

How to Make Grinch Punch

Begin by adding a few scoops of pineapple sherbet to the punch bowl or drink pitcher. Next pour the Green Berry Rush Hawaiian fruit punch into the punch bowl or pitcher and pour over the Sprite.

Pineapple sherbet

Stir it well to dissolve the sherbet. The top of the punch will get a nice foamy top.

To serve, ladle the Grinch Punch into glasses. Top each glass with a candy heart or maraschino cherry.

If you want to rim the glasses with red sprinkles, you might set up a rimming station near the punch bowl so everyone can make their own. Just put some honey on one plate and the sprinkles on another. Instruct guests to roll their cup rim in the honey, then in the sugar.

Do I Need a Punch Bowl?

If you’re serving this punch in a large batch for a party, it’s really best to have a punch bowl. I like this one below that you can get on Amazon. It’s heavy duty plastic so it won’t break and it’s easier to carry.

If you don’t have a punch bowl, it’s fine. You can serve it in a pitcher. You might just need to make it in batches so you can serve everyone at the party. We sometimes affix these Grinch stickers on the front of the pitcher for fun.

Variations You Can Try

There are a few different ways you can make this punch. You don’t have to stick with our version of the recipe, if you can’t find any of the ingredients. You just need a green juice or soda, some green food coloring, a sparkling clear soda to add to it, and lime or lemon sorbet or sherbet.

Additional Helpful Tips

  • You can easily double or triple this recipe for a crowd.
  • If you want to change things up a little, use Orange Juice or Pineapple Juice. Beware that this will change the color of your punch.
  • Just before serving, rim the glasses with the red sugar sprinkles so that the sugar does not dissolve completely while the glass sits. Alternatively, you can leave a plate of sprinkles and a bowl of lime wedges by the punch bowl so guests can rim their own glass.
  • If you’re serving the punch in a punch bowl, add extra scoops of sherbet or ice cubes to keep it chilled longer.
  • You can also serve this punch in a pitcher, if you don’t have a punch bowl.

Storing Information

  • The punch does not need to be refrigerated, but it’s only really good for a few hours after it’s mixed up, because of the soda carbonation. It’s not good to keep any leftovers.
  • The best thing to do is make small batches of punch, so you don’t waste any of the ingredients. You can always keep the separate ingredients, but you can’t really keep the mixed punch.
