It might not be a very Irish thing, but making Green Beer for St. Patrick’s Day is definitely an American thing to do, and we love it. There’s something fun and whimsical about drinking green beer on St. Patrick’s Day, so we’re doing it!

You’ll be glad to hear that it’s incredibly easy to make green beer. There’s no big secret here. It’s just two ingredients: green food coloring and a light beer, like a Pilsner.
All you need to do is add one or two drops of food coloring into your glass, then pour the beer into the mug. You can add more if you want a darker color. The food coloring won’t change the taste at all.

What Beer to Use for a Green Beer
The best beers to use for green beer are light in color and body. A pilsner or ale will work. Budweiser, Coors, Corona – and of those light colored beers.
Darker beers aren’t ideal for this St. Patrick’s Day beer. So you won’t be able to turn your Irish Guinness green, sadly.
Cloudy beers, like a Heifeweizen or hoppy IPA isn’tthe best choice either, if you’re looking for a clear beer.
