There are many reasons you might be looking for a simple mocktail recipe to enjoy. This is one of our go-tos because it has the fun feeling of drinking a cocktail, but without the alcohol. Not only is this drink incredibly tasty, but it is also simple to make and can be enjoyed by everyone.
You can use non-alcoholic vodka in this cocktail if you want a more “original” taste, or you can just use lemon-lime soda. It’s your choice.
Ingredients You Need

- Blue Curacao syrup – If you can’t find this syrup at the store, you can buy it on Amazon.
- Lemonade
- Lemon lime soda
- Non-alcoholic vodka (optional)
- Lemon slices, for garnish
- Ice
What is Blue Curacao?

Blue Curacao is a liqueur used to make Blue Lagoons and other cocktails. It’s got a bright blue color that adds a fun element to the drink. Made from the peel of the Laraha citrus fruit that is grown on the island of Curaçao in the Caribbean, it’s a bit sweet and bitter and has a distinctive orange flavor.
For this recipe, because it’s a mocktail, we are making it without any liqueur, but there is a non-alcoholic blue curacao syrup that has a similar taste that you can use. Top syrup brands like Torani and Monin make this syrup.
If you can’t find it, or don’t want to buy it for this one drink, you can use orange juice and a drop of blue food coloring as a similar substitute.
How to Make a Blue Lagoon Mocktail
This recipe makes just one blue lagoon mocktail, but you can make it in a pitcher if you’re serving it at a party. We’ll give instructions for both below.

To make one cocktail:
- Fill a glass full of ice.
- Add the blue curaçao syrup, lemonade, and non-alcoholic vodka (if using). Stir with a spoon.
- Pour the lemon-lime soda to fill the cup. Stir gently. The blue curacao is heavier then the other ingredients so you will have to stir it well to combine.
- Garnish with a lemon slice.

To make a pitcher:
To make a pitcher of this mocktail, you’ll want to 4x the recipe. That’s 6 ounces blue curacao, 12 ounces of lemonade and 12 ounces of lemon-lime soda, plus 8 ounces of non-alcoholic vodka, if you’re using it. If you’re not using na vodka, just add 8 ounces more of the lemon-lime soda.
In a medium-sized pitcher, combine the blue curacao, lemonade, and non-alcoholic vodka (if using). Stir it together. Pour the lemon-lime soda in gently so you don’t lose all the carbonation.
The blue lagoon mocktail is now ready to serve. Pour the mixture into glasses over ice and garnish with a lemon slice. Enjoy!

Hurricane Glasses
Besides the pretty blue color, another aspect of this cocktail that’s so fun is the hurricane glasses that it’s served in. For me, half the joy of a cocktail is the glassware. You can find these glasses on Amazon, if you want to pick some up. You can make pina coladas and hurricanes in this same glass. They do differ in size, so your cocktail ingredients might need to vary as well so that it fits in your glass.

Alternatives & Suggestions
You can also experiment with this recipe to create different variations of the blue lagoon mocktail. The signature of this cocktail is the bright blue color, but that can be made in a few different ways, not just with blue curacao syrup.
- If you find the mocktail too sweet try replacing the lemonade with lemon juice.
- Mix orange juice and a drop or two of blue food coloring.
- Make some blueberry simple syrup for the coloring.
- Crush some blackberries into your lemonade for added coloring.
