This Spiked Coconut Banana Smoothie is a cocktail in disguise. It’s thick and creamy, full of banana flavor, and best of all, it’s spiked with rum.
This is one of the easiest smoothies you’ll ever make. It takes just four ingredients and some ice. The end result will make you think you need a smoothie every afternoon.
Although we drink this spiked smoothie all year around, it’s particular good on a hot summer day. It’s a toss up which drink we’ll make between this one and this Mango Pineapple Smoothie. Both are so refreshing when the temps go up. Both can be spiked with whatever you like.
And since the kids aren’t likely going to let you get away with making only yourself a smoothie, you can add the rum just to yours at the end, and make this a recipe for everyone.

How to Make a Spiked Coconut Banana Smoothie
The one thing you need to do to prepare to make this smoothie is put a banana in the freezer.
When you come to my house, you’ll find that all our bananas are stored in the freezer. It’s rare that we actually eat fresh bananas when we buy them. They always seem to go back before we get to them. At some point, I started storing them in the freezer instead.
Freezing the banana first means you need less ice for this smoothie, so it will be even creamier and it will stay blended longer.

Toss all the ingredients into the blender and mix it up until smooth. That’s all there is to it. As mentioned, if you’re making this for the kids, leave the rum out and add it just to your own smoothie at the end.
