With summer coming up, we’re all craving our favorite hot drinks but drinking them right now feels like sitting on the surface of the sun! To remedy this, we’re serving up iced versions of all of our favorites for this summer.
While you could go the one-and-done route of making your hot drink and pouring it over ice, I beg you not to. Your coffee will be super watery and not flavorful at all! Not to mention the texture is going to be weird. Instead, put a little more love into your beverage, and have this awesome iced mocha.

Ingredients for an Iced Mocha
The ingredients to this are pretty simple. Since there aren’t a lot of ingredients, you need to use the highest-quality coffee and chocolate syrup you can. These both have a major affect on the taste of the mocha, so don’t skimp.
- Chilled coffee
- Half and half – or milk of your choosing
- Chocolate syrup
How to Make an Iced Mocha
This mocha takes a little bit of preparation if you’re going to use our method, because we make coffee ice cubes. The upside to doing this is that as the ice cubes melt, it doesn’t water down your mocha because the ice is made of coffee!

Take your chilled coffee and pour it into whatever ice cube mold you’re using. Put them in the freezer until they’re frozen solid, about two to three hours. If you don’t want to make the ice cubes, you can use regular ice cubes, but the drink will become watered down if not drank quickly.

Once the cubes are frozen, pour your chocolate syrup into the bottom of your cup. Add in your ice cubes, then the chilled coffee and half and half. That’s all there is to it! A super creamy, chocolatey, and delicious drink that’s perfect for a hot day.

Tips for Making Iced Mochas
You can adjust the amount of chocolate syrup you use depending on your preference for sweetness and chocolately-ness.

The half and half can be substituted for regular milk, or cream. You can even use milk alternatives such as almond milk or soy milk. Milk alternatives tend to be pretty creamy, so they’ll work great for this recipe!
Cold brew coffee is great in this drink. If you haven’t tried it you should. It isn’t brewed using hot water so the flavor is smoother and sweeter while being less bitter and lower in acidity.
