Ingredients You Need For Bacon Wrapped Shrimp
- Bacon – You’ll need 8 slices of bacon, cut horizontally. It can be cured or uncured. Just choose your favorite bacon.
- Shrimp – You’ll need 16 large shrimps with the tail on and preferably already shelled and cleaned, so it’s super easy for you. Buy shrimp that is counted by the pound. The smaller the count size, the larger the shrimp.
- Honey – Use organic local honey, if at all possible. If you don’t like or eat honey, you can substitute it with maple syrup or agave nectar.
- Soy sauce – You need 1 tablespoon of soy sauce for the marinade. A similar tasting substitute for soy sauce that is gluten free is tamari or Bragg’s Amino Acids, which is an all-purpose seasoning made from soy protein.
- Garlic salt – You’ll only need about ⅛ teaspoon garlic salt for the baked bacon wrapped shrimp. If you don’t have garlic salt, mix ground salt and garlic powder.
- Fresh parsley – You need 1 tablespoon of chopped parsley. In a pinch, use dried parsley instead.
How to Make Bacon Wrapped Shrimp
Preheat the broiler in your oven. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicon mat, or spray the tray it lightly with cooking oil so the bacon doesn’t stick.
Wrap half a slice of bacon around each shrimp and secure it with a toothpick. You don’t necessarily need the toothpick if you wrap the bacon tightly enough, but it does make a good serving stick.

In a small bowl, stir together the honey, soy sauce, and garlic salt. Divide the sauce and reserve half of it for later. It’ll be used as a glaze after the shrimp is cooked. Add the shrimp to the bowl with the remaining sauce and toss to coat.

Place the shrimp, spaced apart so they aren’t touching each other, on the baking sheet. Broil them for approximately 8-10 minutes, until the bacon is crisp. You’ll want to flip them over halfway through cooking so they get evenly browned. And keep a good eye on them at the end so you don’t overdo it.
After you take them out of the oven, toss the cooked shrimp in the remaining sauce. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve.

Tips for Making Great Bacon Wrapped Shrimp
- Be sure not to overcook these, as the shrimp will become rubbery and hard when overcooked. If you want to be sure of the correct timing, cook one shrimp before cooking the others, to be sure you have the timing down.
- It’s possible to par-cook the bacon – partially cook it before wrapping it around the shrimp, to ensure that the bacon gets fully cooked, while not overcooking the shrimp.
- Use large shrimp and thin bacon.
