If you can’t find banana liqueur you can make it at home by combining rum or vodka, bananas and sugar. Its a cheap and convenient way to add to your liquor cabinet.
Who Invented the Rum Runner?
This rum runner recipe was invented in Florida and named after the original rum runners of prohibition time that inhabited the Florida Keys. Because of this it is one of Key West’s signature cocktails.
Originally the rum runner was concocted as a way for the bar to get rid of remaining alcohol before a new shipment came in. The original recipe had blackberry liqueur and grenadine, along with bananas and rum. Some version also include orange juice.
