Add pineapple to your mojito for one of the tastiest cocktails you’ll ever make.

A classic mojito is already packed with great flavor, both sweet and sour. The fresh mint leaves, lime and sugar meld into a super tasty cocktail. Adding pineapple (either fresh or canned) to this drink is a fun way to mix it up a bit.

Ingredients in a Pineapple Mojito

What you’ll need to make this cocktail is

  • Pineapple
  • Lime wedges
  • Mint leaves
  • Sugar
  • Rum
  • Ice
  • Soda Water

The ratio of these ingredients is very important. If you add too much of one ingredient, it can really skew the taste and lead to a much less enjoyable drink. Believe me, I’ve had many bad mojitos at bars over the years.

Muddled Pineapple Mojito Ingredients

This recipe is perfect as is. I wouldn’t adjust a thing. We’ve perfected this recipe to get it just right.

However, if you want to cut the sugar, you can replace regular sugar with a sugar substitute. The one I use is Xylitol because it has a 1:1 sweetness to sugar. If you use something different, I can’t guarantee the right amount of sweetness, because they all vary so much.

The best rum to use for mojitos is white rum. I prefer to use Bacardi Silver. It’s an affordable, nice tasting rum for cocktails.

Can I Use Canned Pineapple?

Yes, you can use pineapple from a can, if necessary. Fresh pineapple always gives the best flavor and aroma, but if that’s hard to come by then canned chunks also work well.

Pineapple Mojito

Be sure to only use the chunks. The juice can be discarded or used for something else. It’s too sweet and will throw off the balance of the drink if you add it.

Enjoy!
