These twists feature strips of flaky pastry twisted with crispy bacon and two types of cheese, creating a crispy, salty, wonderful appetizer that your guests won’t be able to stop eating. They also have an irresistible sweet coating of brown sugar and spices.
Each twist is a blend of textures and flavors, with the buttery, golden-brown pastry providing a satisfying crunch that gives way to the rich, melted cheese and the smoky, savory goodness of bacon.

Helpful Tips
- Choose the Right Cheese: For maximum flavor, mix cheddar and grated Parmesan. They two are contrasting cheeses that add an extra layer of flavor alongside the bacon.
- Cut the Bacon: You might be tempted to use a whole strip of bacon, but each twist only needs half a strip, cut lengthwise, otherwise they’ll be too greasy.
- Use Puff Pastry Dough: For the best results, use high-quality puff pastry dough. This provides a light, flaky texture that enhances the cheesy and bacon-filled center. Roll out the dough evenly and cut it into strips for consistent twists; you can make as many as you want by doubling/tripling the recipe.

Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
- 6 slices bacon thin preferred, cut in half lengthwise
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a large shallow plate, mix together brown sugar, Italian seasoning, black pepper, and garlic powder. Set aside.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Brush the entire surface of both sheets with beaten egg.
- Sprinkle the cheeses over the pastry. Gently press the cheese down so it sticks, and you can lightly roll over it with a floured rolling pin. Use a pizza cutter to slice the puff pastry into long, one-inch strips. Place half a slice of bacon on each pastry strip.
- Take one strip, lift it by the end, and twist it three or four times to form a spiral. Roll the twisted strip in the brown sugar and spice mixture.
- Place the twists on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and the bacon is crisp. Rotate the baking sheets halfway through for even cooking.
- Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm or at room temperature.
