I love the creamy pepperminty flavor of this martini. It’s like drinking a warm glow in the form of a cocktail. Now imagine drinking it in front of a roaring fire with snow falling outside.
Okay, that might just be my personal holiday happy place, but even if you can’t have the fire and snow, you can always have this cocktail.
You were wondering what to do with all those candy canes at Christmas time. I’m just suggesting that this is a good way to go.
You can even make your own candy cane vodka! It’s not difficult, though it does take a bit of time to infuse the vodka with candy canes. It results in a really pretty bright red vodka that can be used in many holiday drinks, including this one and this peppermint mimosa with candy canes.
Where to Get Peppermint or Candy Cane Vodka
If you head to the liquor store, you’ll no doubt be able to find a few different brands of peppermint or candy cane vodka. Smirnoff has one called Peppermint Twist.

If you can’t find it or just want to try making your own, it’s not too difficult to make a batch of candy cane vodka with just a few ingredients. Here’s a recipe and how to, if you want to give it a try.
How to Make a Pink Peppermint Martini
This recipe makes 2 cocktails because it’s more fun to drink holiday martinis with friends!
Start by crushing up a candy cane into tiny pieces. You can do this by putting the candy cane in a plastic baggy and crushing it with something – I use a meat mallet.

Pour the pieces onto a plate. Dab your finger in a bit of the vodka and wet the rim of the martini glasses. Roll the rim in the candy bits and set it aside.
Next, get out your cocktail shaker and add a few ice cubes. Pour in the vodka, creme de cacao, and cream. Shake vigorously until chilled.
Pour the cocktail into the two martini glasses and serve.
Note this isn’t a super sweet cocktail. We don’t add extra sugar to it. If you want it to be a bit sweeter, I recommend adding 1 tsp agave syrup or simple syrup.
