Ingredients in Strawberry Cream Cheese Puff Pastry Sticks

- Puff pastry sheets – You’ll need 2 sheets of puff pastry to make 15 sticks.
- Cream cheese- the cream cheese needs to be softened, so be sure to take it out of the refrigerator at least 15 minutes before you need to use it.
- Powdered sugar
- Vanilla extract
- Strawberry jam – Use any brand you like. You can also use raspberry jam or another flavor, if you want.
- Egg & water – mixing these together makes an egg wash that will glaze the outside of the twists and help them get golden brown in the oven.
How to Make Puff Pastry Sticks
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Cover a baking sheet with a silicon mat or parchment paper. Set it aside until you’re ready to place the prepared twists on for baking. If your puff pastry was frozen, you’ll need to set it out to thaw for at least 30 minutes. If you want to try making your own puff pastry try this recipe.
In a bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla. Stir until smooth and combined.
Lay out one sheet of the puff pastry on the counter horizontally. Since it was folded up, it’ll probably have some seams that need to be smoothed out. Don’t press it too much, just smooth it out.
Add the strawberry jam in a layer all the way to the edge of the pastry sheet. Add the cream cheese mixture on top of the jam, being careful not to move the jam around too much. Place the second sheet of puff pastry over the top of the jam.

Cut the pastry into ½-inch wide strips using a pizza cutter or a sharp knife. Once all 15 are cut, start to make the twists. Hold one end of the strip in each hand, twist in opposite directions until the entire strip is twisted. Lay it on the baking sheet.

In a small bowl, combine the egg and water. Whisk it together. Brush each twist with the egg mixture. This will help them get nice and golden brown.
Bake the twists for 22-25 minutes, until golden. There’s no need to flip them over halfway through cooking, but you can if you want to.

How to Serve Puff Pastry Sticks
The best way to serve these sticks is standing up in a jar or vase on the table, along with other appetizers and finger foods. Everyone will love how pretty they look and they’ll be gone in no time!

If you want to serve them with a dip, we recommend mixing more cream cheese and strawberry jam in a bowl and serving it alongside the sticks.
These strawberry pastry sticks also make a great brunch appetizer or accompaniment to tea as an afternoon snack.

Variations to Try
Just because we use strawberry and cream cheese in the middle of these sticks doesn’t mean you can experiment with other variations. In fact, these sticks are perfect for so many different flavors.
Try making one of these variations:
- Raspberry and mascarpone
- Peach and honey
- Pesto and parmesan cheese
- Grated hard cheeses like gruyere or Pecorino Romano

How Long Do Puff Pastry Sticks Last?
These appetizer sticks will last for about a week in the refrigerator, though they won’t keep their crispiness once you’ve put them in there. If you want to reheat them for a second serving, pop them in the oven or air fryer for a few minutes to recrisp them.

Would it be easier to spread the cream cheese first and then spread the jam on top of the cheese ?
You can do it either way you like!
