Whether you’re hosting a game day party, or whipping up small bites for a holiday party, these tater tots are always a crowd-pleaser.

  • Start from frozen: For perfectly crispy tots, start with frozen tater tots. Bake them twice to ensure they hold their shape and get super crispy.
  • Form them into a cup shape: You can use a small round object to force the tots up the sides. I found that my cocktail muddler worked well.
  • Serve right away: These little bites are irresistible. For the best texture serve them straight out of the oven.

Loaded Tater Tots are crispy, golden-brown bites of potato goodness piled with melty cheese, sour cream, bacon, and chives.

Ingredients

  • 20-30 frozen tater tots
  • 1/3 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • Chives, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450ºF (230°C). Grease the cups of a mini muffin pan.
  2. Place 2-3 tots in each muffin cup.
  3. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven and let cool slightly.
  4. Mold the tots into cups inside the tray. You can do this by pressing a small round object into the tray and twisting to force the tots up the sides. Return to oven; bake for 15 more minutes.
  5. Add cheese to each potato cup. Bake for 2-3 minutes, until the cheese has melted. Transfer to a serving platter. Top with sour cream, bacon bits, and chives.
