These Puff Pastry Christmas Tree Appetizers are an easy and quick way to decorate the party table, and they’re delicious too! Rich and flaky puff pastry filled with pesto and Parmesan cheese is always a crowd pleaser.

These bite-sized trees add a festive touch of holiday magic to your table. They’re simple to make and perfectly portable for your guests to enjoy. I love serving these puff pastry appetizers at holiday gatherings—they disappear in no time!
- Keep the puff pastry cold: Work with chilled or even partially frozen pastry to make it easier to cut and shape. Warm pastry can become sticky and lose its structure.
- Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter: This ensures clean cuts for your tree shapes, helping them hold their festive design during baking.
- Brush with an egg wash: A light coating of beaten egg gives the pastry a beautiful golden-brown finish and helps any toppings stick securely.
- Let them cool slightly: Let the trees cool slightly before adding the cheese star; you don’t want it to melt into a gooey blob.

Puff Pastry Christmas Tree Appetizer
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1/4 cup basil pesto
- 2 tablespoon Parmesan cheese grated
- 1 slice white or yellow cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet and spread the pesto evenly onto the sheet.
- Using a pizza wheel, slice through the pastry along the shortest side to make 1” strips.
- Fold the strips back and forth to make a tree shape. Slide a skewer through the center of the pastry to hold it together.
- Place the skewers on the baking sheet and bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes, until puffed and slightly golden.
- Remove from the oven.
- While the trees are cooling, cut star shapes out of the slice of cheese with a small star cookie cutter. Place the stars on the skewer at the top of the tree.
